Do you need help with raccoon control?

It can sometimes be difficult to directly observe raccoons because they nocturnal (besides that, many home and business owners are afraid of approaching raccoons because they can be quite aggressive). The easiest way to find if you have a raccoon problem is to identify their tracks or identify the sounds that they make. Raccoons that live in attics or chimneys will usually begin to make noise when it starts to get dark and they will continue to make this noise until they leave to get food for the night.
Younger raccoons, called kits, make a purring noise. They often do this when their mother comes back to the nest from gathering food. If you hear a purring noise in your chimney or attic, you can be sure that there are younger animals present and that a family has made a nest in your home. This is usually in the spring of the year. Why do you need raccoon removal?

Many homeowners think that raccoons will simply go away by themselves. While it is true that the animals sometimes make only a temporary den out of your attic, most of the time they will remain there for a number of weeks or longer. If you are lucky enough for the animals to leave on their own and you do not address the problem, they may return at a later time.

If a pregnant mother makes its way into your home, it may stay there for the gestational period of 65 days. If there are kits (young raccoons) in the den, they will stay in the same area until they can take care of themselves. This my take up to nine weeks and during this time, the kits will not leave the den.
Are raccoons dangerous?

It is possible for raccoons to spread rabies. In fact, of the nearly 7000 reported cases of rabies in the United States in 2006, almost 40% were in raccoons. In the United States, just about 38% of rabies cases in humans are a result of raccoon bites. Besides rabies, the animals might also be carriers of several other harmful diseases - they may carry parvovirus, canine distemper, and roundworm. Further, flea infestations are a secondary problem associated with a raccoon problem.

As more and more raccoons continue to make their way into urban areas, these animals are becoming less fearful of humans. This adds to their natural tendency to bite when they feel threatened. Even though attacks on humans resulting in serious injury are rare, such cases have been documented. Overall, it is never recommended that you put yourself in direct contact with a wild raccoon. You should always think about consulting a professional.

If they have, we will enter the attic to determine the extent of the damage that the raccoons may have caused. Once this is done we will set traps to remove the animals and after determining that all the animals are removed, we will repair where the animals have entered.
